I don’t want to become one of those bloggers who becomes known for what he is against, or for pointing out how wrong other guys are, but this was just too funny to pass up. It is also important to distinguish the gospel from all its counterfeits. For as Paul warns in Galatians 1.6-7:
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel – which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
Upon further thought, it might not be as funny as I thought. It would be funny, if it were not so serious & sad.
Thanks to the folks at Modern Reformation & White Horse Inn for the scorecard. As they said:
“It’s like Bingo… Only better.”
No question Osteen is an easy target for those who identify with Jesus. I wouldn’t want to judge him too harshly as I have heard him share the Gospel once. He did a pretty good job, I must say.
However, he does cernter on a social awarness and pull your self up in your own strength and you can be all you want. Almost sounds like Nike commercial “just do it”….
I like the score card, I do thinks it’s kinda funny…..
More problematic is that he has repeatedly stated that he will not tell anyone that they are afflicted with sin. That is akin to an oncologist who will never tell anyone they have cancer. It is malpractice.
I do not know if he really believes in sin and simply tries to soft-peddle his message, but his message is a counterfeit gospel. He is the new generation Robert Schuller. But, he is far from alone.
As far as “sharing the gospel once…”, I thought Barrack Obama gave a tremendous gospel testimony during the last election, in his interview with Rick Warren. And I am not the ultimate judge… but if I was laying down money in Vegas about whether he believed what he said vs. he is intelligent and learned the right words…. I think I would bet on his intelligence. (OK. For equal opportunity politics: I know Mitt Romney can make no claim at all about being a Christian.) OK. Back on point… Point is: Just because someone can speak the words…
I agree Dennis. Pretty sad in deed…
That is indeed very sad.
Which of these words can you do at God’s shared emotional experience that is a hallelujah celebration? That is what is interesting to God and it is what provides you whole at that moment. God causes the Holy Spirit to exist provided to your existence when you are doing what is interesting now to God and what is interesting to God, God causes Himself to see and provides whole shared meaning across people to it. God causes life that is understanding whole truth to do what they are caused to know united with God’s continuable interest span. When they do this, God is uniting the life of separation. This would be the life around your area that some might experience as evil or oppressing and possessing areas of your body and environment that are not being understood correctly or continuable for your existence to be aware to God continuously and to participate at a united conduction.
